One could argue, that the entire division is down, thusly appearing to be 'more competitive'. The Cardinals are definitely a weaker team than last year and the Brewers are barely remaining competitive. The Pirates seem to be the anamoly. I am not sure the Reds are any better than last season, with the exception of their pitching, because their bats are certainly not dominating like 2 years ago.
