To boil it down a bit, I see it akin to the Star Wars vs. Star Trek debate. Star Wars films are fun popcorn flicks, great fun but as deep as a doggie dish. Star Trek tries for a more mature and grounded film with greater depth and relevance, sometimes with success and sometimes falling short . . . but at least they try.

Has DC dropped some bombs? Indeed. Yet for every blockbuster Marvel hit of late, I can name a Marvel stinker too.
