You watchsmith probably saw more Rolex as there are a lot of them. Current production is 800K+ a year. So, even if they were making 300k+ 30 years ago, that millions and millions of Rolexes around the world.

All automatic watch should be serviced about 4 years. If you have a tool to remove the case back, you can play around the advancement, but if it need service, it needs service.

I was under the impression my watch is built as a solid case, from the top down, as opposed to via opening the back as most watches.
I thought they built the case sort of like a boat and drop things in from the top down, making it difficult for just anyone to open them without causing markings to the case as they attempt to do so.
