The old Zaya (Guatemala) is MUCH better than the new (Trinidad) version. I've had then side by side, and the Guatemalan version is smoother and the flavor doesn't overpower with Vanilla like I felt the Trinidad version does. My wife was lucky enough to find me a bottle of the Guatemalan version last Friday, and they may be able to get their hands on more for me, too. I seriously hope so.
As for the cigars I've paired it with, it has gone well with everything I've smoked with it. Fuente to DPG to other island smokes.
Just an all around outstanding sipping rum (or it used to be before the move, IMO).
