On mine I click DirecTV button and you get DirecTV Central with:
Now playing list
Watch Live TV
Showcases
Pick Programs to record
Read new messages & settings
and a couple of other choices. Then click "Read new messages & settings"; then click "settings"; then click "channels"; then click "channel list".

At this point you can check channels you want to show up in the program guide, one by one. Handy to get rid of shopping networks, news stations you may not agree with, and PPV sites. Good way to get rid of stuff you will never watch, like maybe ?
