Matt Cain did not bean him on purpose, Cain is not THAT guy.
With that said, anyone who has ever pitched a baseball knows that once it leaves your hand, you may have a general idea where it's headed, but the smallest snap of the wrist at release or lack thereof can send it completely off course, let's not forget wind plays a big factor in all of the pitching.
I disagree with an automatic suspension, **** happens. If it's blatant that the pitcher beaned the player intentionally, that's another story. You don't suspend a player for an accident.
