Almost on-the-money!
Vadim, you need to develop a careful
thumbnail technique. I can get a better opening more quickly and easily than any cutter I've seen and the manual process is a pleasurable part of the broader cigar experience for me- I get to "meet" my stogie before I smoke it. Since I developed this technique, it's all I ever use, except for torpedo/figurado-style heads (on which I need to get through filler). For those, I use a $4 double-guillotine cutter that's always in my pocket.
I enjoy the aesthetic of a perfectly-executed cut, but even if I didn't have my thumbnail method, I don't think I'd let the unavailability of my preferred cut keep me from enjoying a cigar.
Good luck finding a happy solution!
