Default Re: Murder Mystery Game: Rules and Characters

Play strategies

Talk to everyone including the non player characters, investigate everything that looks to be worth investigating, make full use of the special skills and items in your inventory, and make alliances with other players if you can. You all have different pieces of the puzzle, but you won’t all be able to work together. Some of you will have hidden (or not so hidden) agendas and motivations written in your dossier. Pursuing them is important; they may be critical keys to unlocking the clues you need to solve the mystery.

Write well if you can. Good storytelling earns Attribute check bonuses. The better you write, the better your chances of success every time you come to a contested or complicated action. Staying in character is another way to earn bonuses that apply to your actions. Poor writing and acting out of character for the role you picked will cause you to lose points, so pay attention to your character’s goals and motivations and stick to them while working to solve the mystery.

Because of the point rewards given, good storytellers and roleplayers have the best chance to win at this game regardless of what kind of character they end up playing. Good luck and good writing!
