Using doctors in advertising was popular way back when. Chesterfield cigarettes had ads with "doctor recommended" text and pictures of docs smoking. Nathan's hotdogs in Coney Island gave free hotdogs to doctors and took pictures of them eating them to use in ads. These ad campaigns led people to think that all this stuff is good for them.
I guess it worked, because there's nothing better than a couple of dogs with a nice cigar for dessert.
