My FIL picked up a bottle of that Traveller whiskey when he was here and wanted to leave it with me, it's not terrible so long as you know you're getting sweet boring Canadian whisky (although it allegedly has Barton blended into it). I'm with you on the rye, Ben.
It's distilled in Bardstown KY, same one that bottles Olde St. Nick. But yeah, it compares to a lower proof light whiskey
