you would know because you would have a
xxx.xxxx@me.com email address.
It allows you to sync contacts,calendar,email,pictures,video across macbook,iphone,itouch automatically.... change any one of those on iphone or macbook and it syncs the next time the other device is turned on (or if you set it to sync @ certain time frame)
