No such thing as a brand called "Coke". There is Coca-cola, Diet Coke, New Coke (hope to God that stuff is gone),etc. Growing up in Atlanta, where Coca-cola is headquartered, it is as Cigary said, soft drinks are referred to as cokes. Now I understand the confusion it can cause but it is not wrong what we say just different than up there. If someone asked me if I wanted a "pop" I'd probably throw up my dukes thinking they were about to swing
