I was watching the Maltese Falcon on TCM the other night. A couple of times in the movie (once in the very first scene) Bogie sits down in his office, rolls a cigarette and lights it with a type of lighter I've never seen.
It was a desk lighter. It looked like a small cube, perhaps 3 inches on a side, and he pressed in a shaft with a click and then withdrew it. The end of the shaft was lit and it was much like a match, but obviously re-useable.

Anyone know what kind of lighter that is?
