You might ask the wife if perhaps you could purchase the computer + Office first, and wait a few months before dropping the extra money on the monitor. I understand that may leave you using an older monitor, but it spreads out the cost to make it slightly more manageable on a budget.
That is a way to go, but that will be a hard pill to swallow.
