I know this doesn't help you, and I'm not usually an apple fanboy (I like both systems), but this is where I found mac to be WAY easier. Just drag the application icon to an external hd, then drag it to the new computer and for most programs that's all you need to do. Super easy and
it just works. (sorry, had to say that to annoy the rabid anti-apple people).
