As Laura mentioned, I've become a triathlete, myself. Got HOOKED after my first one...last year. I've done 5 so far, and will do as many as I can for as long as I can. I'd love to be 70 and still doing them. I did do an international length this year. Was a great challenge, even though it didn't go as well as I had hoped it would (went a bit off course on the swim and bonked on the run), but I finished.

Having a road bike for tris isn't a big deal...that's what I have (Trek 1.2). Only thing I'd suggest is looking for aerobars. Got some on my bike this year, and it made a big difference in my comfort level on the bike.

The goal next year is a half ironman (Chisago Lakes in late July). I'll do a few sprints, as well, but I'm looking forward to the challenge of a half iron race.

Maybe we need to have a CA triathlon team. Finish the run with cigars (not necessarily lit).

And isn't that first cigar and beer AWESOME after you finish? They both taste SO good to me.
The swim leg wasn't so terrible after all, just should've trained more in the wetsuit I used...and just done more swimming, period. My goal is to work on some of the smaller Tri's here on the Island and do the Izena 88 next year (half Ironman). And yes! That first beer was great!! As was the cigar that night. I believe it was an LFD Airbender Chisel
