Re: Rocky Patel Edge

The Nica version (blue band) blows the others out of the water, imo.

Re: Question about humdification.

66% is perfect. The closer to 70 you get, you lose flavor, imo. I've always kept mine around 60-62%. Flavor "pops" more. Oh, and don't use the solution, it will just clog up your humidification...

Re: Just got the Thompson catalog in... yikes!

They buy mailing list databases from other companies. I believe they also sell theirs. Companies that say they don't disclose any info, yet, they will sell the info to anyone.

If you ever sign...

Re: Lounges in NC

Nice, but in the worst location possible, imo. If you go at the wrong time, traffic will drive you insane.

Re: Orange Is The New Blackballed

Boeheim is a heinous individual. He is one big pile of sh*t as a person. Decent coach though who deserves all he is reaping.

Re: Herrera Estelli

The lonsdale is the one to try. Cubanesque, I would say and the best DE product imo. Too bad DE screws smaller shops out of getting these, when it was the small shops that made DE.

Re: Guillotine, V-Cutter, Punch Cutter

Much like an engine, you need the proper air/gas (smoke in our case) ratio to get the most out of it. By not using a a full cut, I find the that air/smoke ratio is way off and I never get the full...

Re: Cabinet Humidification Method

Agreed. The Hydra is really overkill for that small of a humidor. Go with beads.

Re: HTF Cigars - Which Are Worthy of the Search?

Crowned Heads/My Father Las Calaveras 2014 was an outstanding limited run (72,000 cigars), imo. Worth picking up if you can find 'em.

Re: Humidity Differences Around Humi

If you have the hygrometer near your humidification, it's gonna have an artificially high reading to begin with.

I would guess it's no more than 4/5% difference and wouldn't worry about it. If it...

Re: Opus X Question

That's the Anejo. A much better cigar than Opus, imo, and less expensive.

Opus are distributed 4 times per year, once each quarter.

Re: Zippo

No on Zippo. Use a quality butane lighter. Torch or soft flame. Butane is odorless and tasteless, Zippo fluid is not.

Re: cutters or punch?

Typically, I cut. (Palio fan) Larger surface area usually means more air flow. That air/smoke ratio is very important for flavor. I do, however, carry a punch on my key ring at all times but may...

Re: Crowned Heads

Las Calaveras is a very limited run so of course, I have to like that one best. Only 3000 boxes of each size was made and there are no more so if you like them and can find them, buy them up!

Re: How to remember?

Just like you can remember if you liked what you have eaten, you can remember if you liked the cigar. And usually, if you can't remember what the cigar was like, you probably didn't like it.

Re: AF Curly Head vs AF Curly Head Deluxe?

Since both cigars are the same blend, they get the baccy from the same source.

Re: Otterbox Cidar Caddy 15 cigar

Or not. :D I have carried one around for years without any need for humidification. If the cigars are in good shape going in, they will stay that way for a loooong time. I have had some cigars in...
