Re: Whats in your bowl?

Just finished a bowl of MacB's Vintage Virginia. Better than the first time I smoked it! Maybe it was the pipe - a Nording Hunting Horn from 2010.

Re: Getting started.

Before Moo gets on here and says it... I'll say it. Get a cob and some over the counter tobacco - Carter Hall, Prince Albert, Sir Walter Raleigh, etc. Just load and smoke. Use the 'three step...

Re: Newbie at BAF

Welcome, Mark! I too thank you for your service to our country and people around the world who simply want a safe place to raise their family and provide for them.
I started getting into pipes...

Re: Pipe Smoking...What I do

Pretty much sums it up for many of us. Thanks for taking what we couldn't put into words and expressing it in pictures!

Re: Whats in your bowl?

Last night it was Dan's Tordenskjold virginia slices (bulk so it was more of a broken flake than a slice) in a Nording freehand. Not quite as good as the same baccy in a Neerup poker. I'll have to...

Re: Take a Picture of Yourself Smoking a Pipe

Todd, looks like a lake in the background of your picture. What part of Wisconsin defines the 'north central woods'? We're heading up to the Dells for a brief stay before Christmas to let the kids...

Re: A Pipe Guys Kid. Otherwise Totally OT

Yeah, and he was on the downside of his curve, but still had the pieces in place for a run to the title game for the following coach in 2002. Montross isn't the only one to leave for greener...

Re: A Pipe Guys Kid. Otherwise Totally OT

Congrats, Moo! Being from Indiana, I remember when Montross was playing ball in high school. Folks were mighty disappointed that he didn't pick the state school - IU.
Hopefully this gig will just...

Re: Quantity or Quality?

I too can be seduced by the opportunity to be a pipe's 'first', but often it's the well used ones that can be had at lower prices that seem to do the job the best. There's a reason why they were...

Re: Whats in your bowl?

A tall bowl of Blackwoods Flake. Been leaning on the va's lately and away from the english blends - contrary to the usual flow of things with colder weather, but they're my tastebuds!

Re: New Pipe Smoker With A Question? Ask an Old Fart

Probably someone who got wrapped up in the 'meerschaum' part of the name. Moo, you're always a great recommender of cobs and with their low price point, it's easy to dedicate them to some of the...

Re: New Pipe Smoker With A Question? Ask an Old Fart

Cobs most definitely do 'ghost'. I have one that I have smoked some Lakeland blends in (they have a very distinctive topping flavor) and I can't get that flavor out of it for anything. It will...

Re: Contest Ideas To Win Pipe Kit

I like the jingle idea since it demands personal thought, creativity, and crafting. Not that a crazy picture of one smoking doesn't involve those things, but you have to use your noggin on this one....

Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread

Thumbs up to the Briar and Burley in Bloomington, IN. Picked up 8oz of Stonehaven and a tin of Gawith's Kendall Cream Flake and 1792 Flake. Never ceases to amaze me that what is scarce online can...

Back from a weeks vacation. Enjoyed multiple bowls of Moontrace and Old Gowrie in a billiard shaped meer. Tonight, back home, it was some Boswell's Best in the same. Went to a B&M and managed to...
