Re: DPG El Centurian

Was fortunate enough to find and order a box of the Emperadores (Belicoso) on-line from Holts about two years ago. (They were in their "Clearance" section, if you can believe that. Can't think of a...

Re: Tatuaje Verocu #9

Yeah, that would be nice. Right now they've knocked $10 off a box.

Re: Are you a cigar 'snob'? (poll)

OK, so I voted and went with the "NC Snob" option. However, I'm not sure I'd be considered a "SNOB" by some folks' definition. (I might be by some other's.) Anymore, I'm exclusively a Tatuaje and...

Re: Your Favorite Tatuaje

If we're talking strictly "TATUAJE", my two favorites are the Cojonu 2006 and La Verite 2008 (Churchill).

Re: Connecticut Fans! What are your favorites/best?

+1 on Cabaiguan. I also enjoy the OR Tabacos Baez and the Old Henry Golds.

I see that Ernesto Carrillo has a new line out that uses CT. (Might have to look into these.)

Re: DPG Blue Size selection?

I'll second the Exquisitos and Preferidos. I've really become a believer in the medium ring-gauges as the best show-case for a given blend. To me, these two vitolas really highlight the DPG Blue. ...

Re: Fausto by Tatuaje

You may not have the definitive answer but I'd be interested to know how much involvement the shop/owner has in the blending of their respective LE stick, once it's been commissioned. If I shelled...

Re: Fausto by Tatuaje

I'm not sure that the B&M's (or even their owners) are necessarily looking for publicity or exposure when they commission an LE, although I'd imagine it's a welcome by-product. Being associated with...

Re: Fausto by Tatuaje

You're missing an important distinction with your list of Tats. Looking at the sticks you've mentioned, about half are LE's, either single-store, regional (Eastie and Westie), or a "seasonal", in...

Re: Fausto by Tatuaje

This is one of the single-shop LE's Pete is releasing this year. It was made for Tobacco Grove in MN and is the fore-runner to a regular production stick that will be made available later this year....

Re: Fausto by Tatuaje

Pete's connection and relationship with Pepin (and Jaime) will prevent that from happening.

Yes - he does release a lot of LE sticks (so does Viaje) but a lot of these are a very small production...

Re: House Blends

I'd definitely recommend the Habana Leon and Hirsh Y Garcia from Cigar King/Phatash in AZ. These are House Blends made for these two B&M's by Pepin. I'd consider both of these among the Don's best....

Re: Holts DPG's

The three Old Henry lines are worth looking into as well, as are the LHO's - one of the best bundled smokes out there, period.

Re: 601 Habano

The 601 Macho (yeah, it's an LE) is SICK. Easily the best of the 601's produced and one of my favorites from 2010.

Re: Tatuaje La Casita Criolla, 100% Connecticut Broadleaf, release in

This, along with Fausto and Avion will be regularly produced. However, these (especially the Avion) could be somewhat "limited". There might be a couple of runs of these per year, so there may be...

Re: Tatuaje Black Label Petite Lancero

I shot Pete a message asking for a bit more detail on the production and I mentioned the previous "limited / exclusive nature" commentary to which Wayne and I were talking about earlier in the...

Re: Difference in Cabaiguan

Interesting news - I had not heard that. Any links to a press release or something similar? At this point, I can't say I've had one of the Nicaraguan-made Cabaiguan. I really like this brand and...

Re: 601 LE Macho

Just a heads-up - This stick won't be available nationally. It's an LE made for a friend of Eddie and Erik to celebrate the release of a book that was recently published. Sabor Havana is the only...

Re: Most complex and dynamic regular production smoke

To piggy-back on akumushi's thoughts, I'd say the two smokes that fit what you're looking for would be both of the Tatuaje RC's. These are both (giant) perfectos and, to me, have to be considered...

Re: When did Pepin take over La Aroma de Cuba?

This is interesting. I was definitely not aware that the brand is no longer owned by Ashton. Who owns it now? Interesting as well, is that they just brought out the Mi Amor earlier this year. Did...

Re: When did Pepin take over La Aroma de Cuba?

Was there a different version of the EE that I'm not aware of? I'd always thought that Pepin had made the EE from the very beginning .

Although I could certainly be mistaken, I believe the La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor also uses this capa.

Re: where do cigars fall on your priority list?

I'm definitely into cigars quite a bit. However, the one hobby that takes priority over them is safari hunting in Africa. If I was faced with the ultimatum of never smoking a single cigar for the...
