Re: Make your own pickles?

Interesting. These were the pickling cukes or regular? How was the ripeness, dark or light green?

Re: Make your own pickles?

I like that "toughness", it gives it that crisp snap when you take a bite.

The recipe I used called for tumeric and mustard seed, but I did not add them (because I didn't want to spend the...

Re: Make your own pickles?

The cuke pickles turned out great. The Jalapenos I threw in with the cukes were hotter than average. The pickles have a slight heat, but I eat hot all the time, so I'm not so sensitive to the spice....

Re: Make your own pickles?

Interesting. This was my first time doing this, so I just used the brine recipe I found online. This recipe called for a 4:1 of distilled water to distilled vinegar with 2 tbls of kosher salt for...

Make your own pickles?

Anyone make their own pickles?

I am a big fan of a good pickle. I'm not talking any of those floppy fluorescent green POS you buy off the shelf (like Vlassic or Mt Olive). I decided give pickle...

Re: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

I did sense urgency, but I took it as time was running out for Harry, just 2 years left of school and so many H*****xes to find. The feeling I got was the ****'s hitting the fan, and things are in...

Re: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

I definitely felt like it lacked the momentum and urgency that I got from the book.

Re: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Well, I saw HBP after work yesterday. Theater wasn't too crowded, so that was good.

Overall, I would say a great movie. I think they missed the mark on many things, but it's the movie, not the...

Re: FREE, El Baton Cigar (Coupon)

I know. I guess they didn't give to much thought to distribution :D.

Re: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

I would expect nothing less. The absence of Peeves from the entire movie plot has been a continual disappointment. But, you take the movies for what they are, theatrical interpretation of novels....

Re: FREE, El Baton Cigar (Coupon)

It's not Newman's distribution strategy that I'm concerned with. I just said I would feel a little strange using a coupon at the B&M. I'm not saying I won't, because I am a cheap bastard and will...

Re: FREE, El Baton Cigar (Coupon)

No problem waiting. But I'm thinking I'll feel a little ... strange slapping a coupon on the counter at the B&M.

Re: Sons of Anarchy Season 2 - DISCUSSION THREAD

Can't wait. SOA, True Blood, and Weeds are the tops, IMO.

I tell you, this was way too long a break between seasons, but I'm sure we'll be rewarded for our wait.

Re: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

I was set on seeing it tomorrow, but then I read that the IMAX version opens at my local on the 29th. So I will probably wait for that. There is no damn way I'm giving that thieving, over priced...

Re: Chewing Cigars

No chewing for me. I personally think the cigar smokes worse when wet, plus I just don't like it. But that's just me, to each his own.

My grandfather would smoke them down to nubs using a...

Re: Smoking room advice

I"m in the early stages, but right now my man cave is in the basement junkroom I've cleaned out. At this point I'm only using a fan in the window, with my chair next to the window. This setup works...

Re: Leave it to me to break another Apple device

I haven't noticed this problem with mine, but it can get buggy sometimes. That could be cause mine is jailbroken and I'm running a lot of "non official" apps on it. For the most part though, it...
