Re: Quoram Shade - Robusto

Many years ago, JR cigars started a new cigar magazine. They asked for volunteers to do taste tests of a large group of different short filler bundle cigars. We had to smoke 3 of each cigar and file...

Re: Good bundle cigar

Since we’re dredging up all the usual suspects, the Old Fashioned cigars sold by Mikes are acknowledged to be seconds of Macanudo and Partagas. He’s also got Honduran Old Fashions now, which I don’t...

Re: AJ Fernandez Bellas Artes - short Churchhill

Are you asking me? I prefer the habana Enclave. I’ve only had the Upmann torpedo and it makes me happy.

Re: AJ Fernandez Bellas Artes - short Churchhill

He makes a lot of catalog cigars and maybe a few of those are stumbles. That said, the Man O War, sold by the Cigars Intl / Cbid is a solid and inexpensive choice.

Re: Padron 1964 - Principe Maduro

Thanks for the review! I like reading Heisenberg’s blog, but I’m often stymied by the lingo. Maybe you need to smoke a cigar while you read it?

Re: Oliva Series G

Oliva is hard to beat for quality / price. My personal favorites are the O and V Melanio. I prefer Olivia’s natural wrappers to their maduros, but to each their own.

Cbid sometimes sells their...

Re: AJ Fernandez Bellas Artes - short Churchhill

Since you’re in AJ mode, I’d recommend the Enclave, which is a classic in-your-face AJ cigar and the H Upmann that he blended (more refined).

Thanks for the reviews!

Re: Time for a change...

I’m not trying to start a partisan argument. But, look into the medical insurance offered through the ACA (Obamacare). It’s not perfect, and it varies from state to state. But, it helps. I chose the...

Re: Need an alternative....Habana Leon

When I see corojo wrapper and Nicaraguan filler, I think of Aganorsa Leaf, which used to be called Casa Fernandez. They make some cigars in Miami still, like Miami Reserva.

Re: Forced to Retire Early

Well, changing careers is inherently stressful. You can’t really change that but you can try and take good care of yourself. Mark’s suggestion to check your financial plans with an advisor is...

Re: Remembering 9/11 - 20 years later - your story

I was in a hotel, taking a class about a scientific instrument at the exact time of the attack. Ended up watching the scene on a TV in the lobby bar.

The most graphic thing I remember was a couple...

Re: Xikar lighters

Basically, the more you spend on a lighter, the more disappointed you will end up. I'd buy a nice punch and stick with cheap lighters that you understand won't last long.

PS: The cheap "5 for"...

Re: Cold Brew

I’ve got the sorta typical 1 liter Bodum French press. I use 8 scoops (unground) of beans, coarsely ground in a cheap Cuisinart grinder. Fill with filtered water and steep in the fridge for a day or...

Re: Jfr lunatic loco el Gran loco

I'm a big fan of the Aganorsa Leaf cigars but never got much from their JFR line. Try the Miami Reserva. Or, on the Cbid cheap side, try the Nica Libre by Aganorsa.

Well, if the Indians were named after a heroic chief and used a handsome portrait as their logo, they might be OK. Look at it this way. If a team was called the Coons and had a caricature of a Black...

Re: Cigar Federation

I have no reason to believe that they sell marketing info. But, your email does expand with additional ads for their other products (whiskey, coffee...).

Re: LONSDALE love!

I had some of these when they were $5 or $6 each and thought I’d rather spend my money another way. At the $3 sale price, they’re a great deal.

Re: Ybor City Recommendations?

I hope you’re having fun wandering around Ybor. One small warning : The only time I ever got got tobacco beetles was in some singles I bought there. Freeze ‘em before they get near your stash.
