Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Nice. The regular FRSBarrel is 50%abv. Good stuff IMO.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

I've heard the ER17 has been declining the last few years. Not that great anymore. It may be because apparently there was a problem with the logistics of releasing a 17yr every year, so it's been...

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Picked up Very Old Barton 100 proof 6 year. SOLID for $12. Now my go to budget bourbon. I'd say it's up there with some twice its price or more. Not amazing, but a solid bourbon. Nice flavor,...

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Been real curious about the KC SB. A lot of bourbon snobs look down on Jim Beam products, (JB, KC, Basil, Bookers, etc). While regular JB sucks, I like KC. It has a different character that I like.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

I just picked up (I have got to stop convincing myself to buy stuff, hah) Bulleit Rye 95 for my first Rye. Not bad. I don't have anything to compare it to, but I was expecting it to be a little...

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

I just don't have the money to buy bottles anymore. I really had to convince myself to buy that Bulleit, haha. I drink way more beer (homebrew :) ), just have small pours of bourbon here and there....

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Yea WSR > Jim Beam for sure. They are usually the same price. I've been wanting to try the small batch FR forever. Single Barrel is excellent IMO.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

I heard it was fairly spicy, but I didn't really get that. The more intense flavor is the more I like it, with anything.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Finally picked up some Bulleit bourbon. Pretty nice. I was hoping for a little more to it. Fairly mellow, but the flavors that are there are pretty nice. Maybe I've just been drinking too much Weller...

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Weller Antique 107 comes to mind. If BT is about $23, the WA107 should be about $20. If you run across Weller 12 yr, get it. It's only $22 around here when it comes out.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Eh, BT is alright, overpriced IMO. You can get better for the price.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Having a Weller 12yr pour right now. Weller is so underrated. 12yr, 90prf (wish it was 100), very nice bourbon, for $22 a 750 where I got it. Can't beat it.

The best bourbon I've had to date,...

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

That's pretty much how much it is here. It's weird how certain bottles of bourbon are cheaper outside of KY, like the BTAC.

I've only had the 15 and it is fantastic. Hard as hell to get here,...

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Damn the 23yr is like $230+ here, and the 20yr is $130+. While Stagg is great, and the 12 and 15yr Van Winlkes (I haven't had the 20 or 23), the W.L.Weller of the BTAC is the best bourbon I have had...

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Get it. If they have Van Winkle 12, get that too. What the hell, I swear the BTAC is more expensive here than any other place. $75 here. Granted good bourbon here is like gold. Van Winkle demand has...

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Yea I know, which is why I'm trying to find one :) . The new LE is good, but I hear the Mariage is better.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Yea, maybe their run of the mill cheap stuff. But their more expensive bottlings are solid. I'm trying to find a Mariage. Couldn't afford it when we had it, now I want it. The 2010 LE Barrel Strength...

Yea I heard FD Brewery did the mash and pumped it over, but didn't know the same guy started both. That's my dream. Trying to start a brewpub in a few years, and it would be awesome to start up a...

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Yea I've been wanting to try Stranahans as well, but it's like $45+ here and I can get some fine bourbon for that price like Jefferson's Reserve Very Old.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Yep. Stagg is great, although I definitely like the Weller of the BTAC much better. That stuff is amazing. Straight (neat), smooth, no heat at first, amazing flavor, then warming of the torso....

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Well it depends what you're looking for in a bourbon I guess. I feel like most other bourbons in the same price range as those are better though.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

That is not Bourbon sir! :D

We have a ton of Makers 46 here. I have not tried it yet - but I feel like it is just a marketing scheme to "age" bourbon faster. Oak staves in oak barrels... I...
