Re: Quick Question about Air Purifiers

Ozone is highly effective but dangerous in high concentrations. Carbon filters are safe, but it takes pounds and pounds of carbon to filter the smell of cigars. It's all of series of tradeoffs. I...

Re: Prepaid Forever Priority Mail from USPS

USPS is granted an effective monopoly by the US gov't, but legally required to deliver mail (not packages) to everyone at a flat rate. UPS and Fedex want the mail business without the flat-rate...

Re: CigarSniper Beta is open to all this weekend

Beezid gets hammered by computer programs trying to bid in the last few milliseconds before an auction closes. Beezid claims that they try to find and ban these users, but a clever programmer could...

Re: What small hygrometers is everyone using?

I'm happy with my round Hygroset II. I salt-calibrated it to 75%, and it read 66% after a day in ziploc with brand new 65% Shilala beads. Close enough for me.

I actually passed up the Caliber...

Re: Favorite Site

If they're is out of stock (especially DPG/Tat stuff), there's a decent chance you'll find it for sale here. The CAYP arbitrageurs have been pretty busy lately.

Re: Renters insurance and cigars

Most renters' insurance has limitations/exceptions for "collectible" items. Every insurer defines it differently, but it usually covers goods that can't be immediately purchased on the open market. ...

Re: Tatuaje Ambos Mundos Sumatra Grande No. 2

These aren't short filler. You might have them confused with the Series P.

Re: Will my cigars be OK?

I think OP is a good reason of why CI/Famous ship cigars wet: it keeps down on returns in situations like this. The downside is that it takes a month or more for the sticks to acclimate at 65%RH.

Re: LHC Core

As usual, they've been going for less than half of the regular price on cbid. Of course, cbid gets very expensive in other ways :D

The regular LHCs are pretty good deals, but I'm also going to...

Re: Cu-Avana Punisher... It tastes like burning

I picked up some Intensos off cbid for just over $2 a pop. I wouldn't pay CIs regular prices, but I got my money's worth. Good, strong earthy flavors with a hefty spice and light sweetness on the...

Re: Power Turbo Torch Lighter

I've been using one of these jet lighters for over a month, and it's probably my favorite. I love the huge plastic reservoir...no empty-fuel surprises. Only small issue is the size. Too big for my...

Re: Looking for a good short smoke

Absolutely agreed. Those ugly little sticks pack a good punch with great earthy flavors. After the success of Origen 5-pack, Fuego released a similar 5'er for his corojo-wrapped cigars for the same...

What? No mention of the Cubao No. 5 fiver going for ~$17? Along with the 601 and AFs, it's been a good day on the Monster.

Re: Post your favorite "diet" recipes here

Oatmeal! Buy some old-fashioned oatmeal. Avoid the instant stuff, since it has fewer nutrients and less complex carbs/fiber (making it less filling AND less healthy.)

As you're bringing the...

Re: Crystal Humidifiers....PG Solution?

I'm 99% sure I read the 70%RH in Zino Davidoff's The Connoisseur's Book of the Cigar. People love this sort of authoritarian-prescriptive nonsense. It makes them feel cultured and sophisticated by...

Re: Crystal Humidifiers....PG Solution?

I see--that actually makes sense. For some reason, I thought Xikar was 50/50. This approach makes more sense. I've always liked Xikar's stuff and I'm glad to hear their humidification systems...

Re: Crystal Humidifiers....PG Solution?

This has always confused me. Water evaporates at a faster rate than PG...and all solutions I've seen are a 50/50 water/PG mix. By replacing lost volume with the solution, eventually you'll end up...

I picked up a 5'er of Padilla Habanos of the devil site recently. I remember enjoying these in the past, but even after a month's rest, this batch is off. Muted flavors throughout. Maybe they need...

Re: Opinions on medium cigar

If you like the AVO Maduro, you'd probably like the Domaine too. Might be a little more than medium-strength, but it's pretty smooth.

Re: cigar auctioneer vs. cbid?

I don't think it's intended for your benefit though. I'm sure Famous/CA make money from it.

Without the alert feature, they sell one box for over sticker price.

With the alert, the...
