Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

The Acid Wafe is still made and is available in many places. The next time you are in your local b&m, ask about them and see if they continue to offer them. If not, they are easily available...

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

Price doesn't have to be a major factor as there are some really nice $3-5 cigars and some really crappy $10-15 cigars and vice-versa.

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

Probably the kind of moron that has no idea how to work a torch lighter and didn't want to embarrass himself. There are many more than you would think.

If anyone tells you they can taste the...

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

Take a breath, bro. You are worrying way too much! Cigars are much more resilient and tougher than you obviously think. 60% will not adversely affect your cigars if you kept them there...

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

Adam's a smart feller. The Regents have Cameroon wrappers and they are very, very thin and fragile. If they get the slightest bit dry, they will fall apart. I would suggest keeping Cameroon...

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

Agreed. Besides saying that wasting $50 on a good humidor is a contradiction in and of itself. ;)

I have one. It holds rh perfectly at 45% and will not get any higher. Wanna go cheap? Get some...

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

I have done it for years with no problems using a Sharpie. If you don't wan't to do that, I have also written the date on the cap of the cigar itself with a fine Sharpie with no ill effects.

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

Interesting. I've had manufacturers recommend it for stains and lots of mold growth. :sh

I've done it with fantastic results numerous times but I have also worked in a wood shop with no mask...

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

Sandpaper would be your friend in this situation. :tu Be sure to sand all sides to get the artificial flavor of rum out of the cedar. Re-season and you should be good to go.

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

In your opinion. IMO, Boveda is total junk because it's a waste of money not because they don't work. Spend $5 on a Boveda pack or less than a penny making a salt solution that does the same thing?...

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

As with any budget, buy more than you smoke. On a smaller budget, sacrifice is in order. Smoke less but keep buying on a consistent basis. Just takes time.

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

Don't guess that your digital hygro is correct. Salt-test it to make sure, you don't need the Boveda junk.

Keep your humidor closed with the glass of dist. h2o for at least 2-3 days, then you...

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

You can but you don't have to wipe plume/bloom off to smoke them. It neither adds nor takes away from the cigars flavor. It's just a sign of good storage, that's it.

In my experience, plume is...

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

Your instinct is correct. That is mold. Plume may appear on a well aged cigar but appears as a light, uniform, dusting on the entire cigar. Not spotty. Spotty=mold.

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

Never heard that before. I've got a number of 20+ year old cigars and none are a light gray color. Frankly, most b&m's don't know the difference between mold and plume. Plume takes a long time to...

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

That doesn't look good. Cut off a 1/4 inch off the foot of the cigar and see if mold is still there. If so, cut another 1/4 inch and check. If still there, I would toss them. If not, wipe down...

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

Yes, you can. I keep cigars in mine for months without any humidification and they smoke fine. As long as they are properly humidified going in, they will not dry out. Do yourself a favor and get...

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

I wouldn't say it's more precise. It's all how the user uses it. I can touch up a cigar with a 4 burner just as neat and easy as a single. I like the triple and quad torches simply because it...

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

Ziplock bag is fine for a few weeks. Tupperware or Gladware is a good alternative too.

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

Put a cigar in a box without humidification. Or just place it on the counter for a few days.

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

I have several humidors like the Foot Locker. There are several ways to season and what I do is not commonly adhered too but it works for me. I wiped down the humidor with a lightly, I repeat...
