Re: Chapel Hill, NC cigar bars/restaurants

The smoking ban has really put a damper on the cigar scene at bars & restaurants. Personally, I'd make a trip over to Empire Cigars for a smoke.

Re: Cigar Aficionado..top 10 of 2010...

I have smoked a majority of the top 10 (except HU#2, & Camacho) and from my perspective, they have some great sticks on the list. Personally, I would rather see a TOP 25 list with no rankings...just...

Re: Thanksgiving....

I'm thankful for all of them...but I celebrated with a PDR Capa Maduro, Tat Reserva SW, and My Father LeBijou Gran Robusto.

Re: Questions about flying with cigars

I always carry my cigars in a fancy gladware container in my carry on. Ziplocs would be a good idea, but I am usually not very rough with my carry on as I have a laptop in it as well. As for...

Re: New Diesel

Tried one last night. I thought it was great...especially for the price.

Re: Viaje, School Me

The regular lines are very good IMO (Oro, Platino, 50/50). The limited stuff has been hit or miss for me. I loved the Holiday Blend. The TnT and Summerfest were OK at best, but I would not shell...

Re: Just got this press release from Illusione

These are good smokes...hate to see them go. Sounds like some personality conflicts.

Re: Show your latest NC purchase!

I smoked The My Father LE for my birthday cigar and it is EXCELLENT. When compared with other sticks in the $20 range, the MFLE wins hands down in my book. Take my word for it, the My Father LE...

Re: Show your latest NC purchase!

Picked up one of these the other day. At $20 a pop, my worst fear is that I will really like it.

Re: Leaving the country... CC question

I will give you 5 lines that I would recommend that you try to get yourself a good across the board taste of CCs. I personally prefer thinner rg CCs, but I will give you a larger rg for each line as...

Re: My apartment was just changed to "No Smoking"

I'd smoke anyway and wait to see if this guy does anything. Worst case, he will try to evict you...then you have a court case. He cannot have you arrested for smoking on the property. If he says...

Re: Show your latest NC purchase!

I liked the La Verite as well, but I just don't think it hits the $20 mark. The Tat 7th Reserva for around $9 is WAY, WAY better than the La Verite and just might be the best cigar of the year for...

Re: Fiscal Responsibility

Its good to see this post revisited. Its an easy trap to fall into. I would venture to say the large majority of us have "over-extended" ourselves on cigar purchases at some time or another. ...

Re: Excise Tax

Send them back a letter stating that you will gladly pay the tax, but you would also have to claim the purchase as a loss on your tax return due to the fact that they were destroyed in a fire.

Re: Tat's New Monster Series

I look at it like eating at a fine restaurant. The place can serve beautiful dishes, receive rave reviews, and be nearly impossible to obtain a reservation at, but the proof is in the pudding. If I...

Re: Tat's New Monster Series

Maybe true, but it still has got to be a kick ass cigar. So far, the monsters have been less than stellar, especially given the hype.

Re: Tat's New Monster Series

blah, blah, blah... I'm so over all the hype...I'd rather have a kick ass cigar with no band that comes in a bundle. Probably not going to happen though, because everyone seems to want pretty...

Re: Marcas, Vitolas, CC vs NC

I tend to use brand and size for both CC and NC... With the hundreds of brands of NCs with all their funny names for sizes that I can hardly ever remember, I typically say the vitola instead of the...

Re: A Value Priced Gem

These are a mixed filler made by Pepin. One of my go to value cigars. I also recommend trying the Tabacos Baez Serie SF.

Re: Cigars becoming like baseball cards?

I think many of the manufacturers are trying to head that way. From my experience, I have found that the thrill of the chase outweighs the taste of victory. Trying to chase down every limited run...

Re: Would you recommend one if I like the other??

I personally prefer the Celebracion. Although it is not as full bodied as the Antano, it is full of flavor. I would not hesitate to say jump.

Re: Pork and Puff with Don Pepin 7-23-2010

Despite the heat, this was without a doubt the best retailer sponsored event I have ever attended.

Re: Details in the PACT Act

I might be mistaken, but I believe cigars are specifically exempted in the text of the bill.

Re: Cain Cigars

I went through 2 boxes of maduro robustos and 1 box of habano robustos shortly after their release. I have slowed down on them a bit, but still love them. They are all great, but if I had to...
