Re: A voice from the past-WyoBob

Thanks guys.

As I get time (I'm pretty busy for a retired guy), I'm going to research the forum to see what cigars I might buy (in very small quantities) that are similar to what I enjoyed...

A voice from the past-WyoBob

Hi pipe (and cigar) smokers.

As I get older, I get nostalgic. That prompted me to re-visit a place that I had such a great time in---Cigar Asylum!

I've spent a bit of time over the last couple...

Re: Boosting wireless internet signal

My wireless G's signal was low by the time it got to my shop so I recently bought a "D Link" that uses the house wiring. My old laptop's speed is now 8 megs instead of 2.5. The downside is that the...

Re: Three Redtail Hawks

I got close enough once that I could have touched a Redtail.

I was checking the 18 windmills on my ranch (in south central NE) in my 90 hp Super Cub. We had lots of Red Tails and I was always on...

Re: Lighter recommendation

As you've bought a pipe Zippo (don't forget to buy the black can of lighter fluid as it's less smelly than the regular fluid), you might like to add a Thunderbird butane insert:...

Re: Danger---Crocs

6 weeks before the apparatus comes off, don't know how long rehab will be.

At least I'll have some spare parts for my fly tying vise when I'm done:(

Danger---Crocs

In the hopes of saving others from going through what I am right now-----

I slipped on some water on my garage floor while wearing the devil's shoes----Crocs. I shattered my left wrist and...

Re: How to get started smoking pipes

Cobs draw a bit too easily for me without a filter. You can cut a paper filter in thirds and this restricts the draw and catches little bits of tobacco. Or, cheaper yet, cut pipe cleaners into 3/4"...

Re: Anyone here buy beef from a local farm?

The last I knew, there were no standards for "organic" beef.

Unless you test for it, you'll never know if the animal had antibiotics at a "therapeutic" level in the feed or injections (to save a...

Re: Need help deciding on a knife

I have a Benchmade "Griptilian" that I bought 12 years ago. It seems like I use it on a daily basis and I've never sharpened it on a stone. Just used a steel.

After owning Buck's and Kershaw's...

Re: Anyone here buy beef from a local farm?

Some odds and ends:

As an example, with a live weight of 1,200 lbs., a steer at $1.10/lb with yield of 63% (average yield, at least in the old days) would give you a hanging carcass weight of 756...

Re: Peter Stokkebye Luxury Twist Flake

After falling in love with P.S. Luxury Navy Flake and accumulating quite a bit in my cellar, I tried Luxury Twist Flake awhile back and was impressed! So, I'm building quantities of LTF in my cellar...

Re: Anybody Trade Penny Stocks?

So, did you sell at the market on 3,750,000 shares and get filled at .007 on all of the shares? If so, all I can say is "wow". Lots of other sellers today. I guess that's why they closed at .003....

Re: eagle scouts

I loved Pinewood Derby! I got to build my own. My dad was a great dad but a real klutz when it came to working with his hands. I even got to melt lead and pour it in the car body! Something must...

Re: Why I like Cobs

The Missouri Prides come in a natural finish. You can order natural finished Diplomats and Freehands directly from MM. You can also specify the Danish stems on any pipe that will accept them from...

Why I like Cobs

I started back on the pipe in March of 2010 after a 35 year lay off. I've smoked cigars for twenty years but after encountering too many plugged cigars over the last 2 years and due to the...

Re: eagle scouts

I got my Eagle around 1958 or 59, can't remember for sure. We had a very active troop when I lived in Kansas City. I had 48 merit badges. I went to camp in the Ozarks. We didn't have "projects"...

Re: Tambolaka "Tambo" Pipe Tobacco

I got some Tambo in a group buy some time back----100grams pre cut. I loved the stuff.

So, when another buy came around, I ordered two sticks and a 100gram bag of processed. I got really...

Re: Airplanes

I can't pass up an airplane thread. I owned 7 airplanes over a 25 year period. I built one of the first Glasair's (a real pain in the rear) and a RV6. I helped build around 10 other RV's (with...

Re: Yay, another slope.

The "burning wood" flavor was the exposed part of the stem in your bowl charring. After 6-10 smokes, it goes away as the stem chars more each time the pipe is smoked.
