I was around 24 and had been smoking Bering, Black & Mild. A high class smoke was Antonio y Cleopatra. A friend of my father gave me a D-4. That changed everything. He would periodically give me...

Re: Club Macanudo In New York City

At Zenga, my Landsmann (to mix languages) were snooty? I guess that's why I only buy Canali. :-) On A-rod, if everyone else is adhering to the code, and he is not, then his being allowed access would...

Re: Club Macanudo In New York City

I've been there several times, and I didn't get that vibe at all. In fact, a few times they waived the cutting fee.

I may end up just pulling the trigger myself to lock in. The manager there told...

Club Macanudo In New York City

I just wanted to put out for any NYC local members here.

In January 2020, I'd like to do a locker share at Club Macanudo in NYC.

The yearly fee is $1,500. It would be $750 a piece. This waives...

Re: Chinese Made Humidor Or Not

I would agree on this too. Once you get over 100 cigars, an active humidification system, like a winedor, is best.

Re: Chinese Made Humidor Or Not

IMHO, it's the best set it and forget it solution.

Re: Chinese Made Humidor Or Not

Have to agree on that.

As soon as I setup the new humi, all fine.

But I'd be glad to hear how others faired with Asian made,

Chinese Made Humidor Or Not

A little background, I came back to cigars in 2016.

After I decided I would stay a while, I bought a desk top Chinese made humidor. I battled with that thing for months and couldn't get it to hold...

Re: November 22, 1963. Remembering A Fallen BOTL

Yup, best substitute. The blend won't be the same. But even in ten years or five, blends change for still existent vitola.

Re: November 22, 1963. Remembering A Fallen BOTL

That question is a bit above my paygrade. :-).

But here is a great video from DaveDude, whom I know. It's a great history on JFK's stick, and he smokes one.

Re: November 22, 1963. Remembering A Fallen BOTL

The story about JFK having all the Upmann's rounded up is correct. His press secretary Pierre Salinger got the job. The final number was around 1,200. And yes, H. Upmann Petit Upmann, known as Demi...

November 22, 1963. Remembering A Fallen BOTL

Fifty-six years ago today, a BOTL would not be able to enjoy his favorite H. Upmann at the day's end. Whatever your location on the globe, whatever your political belief, when we light up tonight,...

Re: Ernie Kovacs Cigar Smoker To The Literal End

Didn't know those were his pall bearers. I knew he was loved in the show biz world. Wow. Yup, it could have been paid off quickly.

Re: Ernie Kovacs Cigar Smoker To The Literal End

Yes. Had he lived he may have had been able to manage that.

At least his love of the leave kept paying after he was gone. :-)

Ernie Kovacs Cigar Smoker To The Literal End

A tip of the cigar to cigar lover and comic Ernie Kovacs who combined both those when asked to describe his life in 18 words. "I was born in Trenton, NJ in 1919 to a Hungarian couple. I've been...

Do You Have Any Favorite Cigar Icons?

This LIFE picture is one of my JFK favorites. All of us know he was a fan of Habanos. But what you may not know and what was revealed by one of his staff in a 2000 interview is that Jack Kennedy...

Re: Are You A Steve Saka Type Of Smoker?

I've only seen him on videos, and he seems that way. Nice to know he's that way in person too! If I see him, I'll be sure to ask.

Re: Are You A Steve Saka Type Of Smoker?

From all accounts, Steve seems like a nice and chill guy. Him dissecting the stick certainly fits right into his love of all things cigars.

Are You A Steve Saka Type Of Smoker?

Steve Saka smokes ten cigars a day.

That is something. I do maybe two a week.

How often do you all smoke?
