Re: Got my Behmor 1600 plus for Xmas

After 5 years of using my first Behmor, I was pleased when I got my new roaster a week ago. Although the Plus is still the same toaster oven style, there are some nice improvements.

The ability...

Re: Got my Behmor 1600 plus for Xmas

My Behmor finally died after about 5 years and I also got the new plus.

I could have replaced the board and motor, but it was pretty banged up and I figured it more than served its purpose, and I...

Re: My PSA for wearing a helmet on a motorcycle

Hard to believe I am saying this, but this echoes my sentiments exactly and my beloved Fatboy was sold yesterday.

The deciding factor was a coworker being put on life support after being hit by a...

Re: Heading to Orlando

Winter Park is 30 minutes east and is very nice.

You'll find great restaurants and bars as well as a nice cigar lounge on Park Ave.

If you have time, the scenic boat tour leaves every hour and...

Re: Manhattan cigar bar suggestions

:r

I might be talked into Wicked!

The thing is, in Florida, it's normal to find patio seating at cigar lounges and my limited experience in NYC has been stuffy bars filled with Wall Street...

Re: Help! Need recommendations/advice

I've been hooked on CCM Coffee's house blend2 for a while now.

They're a great company out of Tampa and that particular blend roasts great into second crack and I've really dialed into it.

The...

Re: Manhattan cigar bar suggestions

Probably the right thing to do. I'll see if they'll switch from Mama Mia to something else.

The last Broadway play I saw was Beatlemania in the 70's, which is sorta depressing and a reminder of...

Re: Manhattan cigar bar suggestions

Thanks for the suggestions.

Cigar Inn was also suggested as another good place so at least I have some options in a tough place to smoke

Re: Help! Need recommendations/advice

I'm lucky in that I have a citrus packing plant a mile from my house and I buy my juice there weekly and am spoiled.

Plus, I bet cleaning that thing is a real pain.

Sorry to get off track from...

Manhattan cigar bar suggestions

I will be spending a week in Manhattan and will have a few hours alone one night while my wife and daughter see a Broadway play which I am not interested in.

I was wondering if there is a...

Re: Help! Need recommendations/advice

Not idiotic at all Carlos.

The Rancilio brand has been around for a long time and has past the test of time in the little coffee shops in Miami and other places.

They have been around for a...

Re: Help! Need recommendations/advice

If you like strong coffee, I'm guessing espresso isn't too far away in your journey.

If so, the absolute minimum grinder for the job is a Rocky, imo.

Last time I checked, they can be found for...

Re: Help! Need recommendations/advice

The type of beans will NOT affect the strength of the brew, just the taste.

Definitely a grinder issue, maybe the burrs regarding the coarseness.

The weakness is definitely an extraction issue.

Re: Help! Need recommendations/advice

Could be a number of things, beginning with the temp your machine is brewing at. You won't get proper extraction without proper temp.

The Freshroast is a good roaster for small batches.

I...

Re: Descaling a heat exchange machine

No real loss in performance, but I guess I wanted to take on the challenge and do some maintainance.

One factor was the fact that I returned from vacation and my machine wouldn't turn on and I was...

Descaling a heat exchange machine

After 5 years, I decided to descale my HX machine.
With my old Gaggia, it was a breeze and I knew I was in for a much harder job.

I've always used purified water and a look inside the brew head...

Re: Heading to Daytona Beach next week

I agree with John.

A flats trip to mosquito lagoon to sight fish redfish is one of the greatest things Florida has to offer.

A half day trip would be perfect and probably cost a few hundred...

Re: Help with trip to Florida.

You must be talking about Disneyland, because March is Spring Break and busier than a sailor in a whorehouse in Orlando.

Re: Help with trip to Florida.

Another fun thing to do is pool hop at the different Disney resorts.

I've been doing it for years and never had anyone ask if I was staying there.

To avoid being too much of a freeloader, I...

Re: New espresso machine

[QUOTE=jonumberone;1771718]It's easy enough to fill it, but it goes through water at an amazing rate.
The biggest issue is there is no window or gauge for the water level.
