Brad, how did you get those smooth tonalities in the sky? I didn't see the digital artifact usually found in smooth gradations. Oh yeah, it's gorgeous, too!

Keep doing what you're doing! I was speaking in generalities and for myself. I suppose My point is that I'm a very slow worker; I'm better suited to large format, but who can afford that?

It only sucks when it's overused, and most people do, it seems; but I've also seen people crank-up the color saturation too much, too. Any effect or technique that a viewer can spot is overdone.:2

If you use the slowest ISO setting and use the shade to further reduce the light falling on the subject, you can do this with a P&S.
