Re: What are you reading?

Re: What are you reading?

I finally finished the fourth volume of Proust (Cities Of The Plain, or Sodom and Gomorrah), and have started The Captive (The Prisoner).

Aside from the title confusion stemming from the...

Re: What are you reading?

While waiting in line today for Free Comic Book Day (yeah, I'm one of THOSE :tg), I killed some time by tackling something that's a harder read than Proust #4:

Rocket Ship Galileo - Robert A....

Re: What are you reading?

Just finished Vol. 3 of Proust, and have started Cities Of The Plain . . . though how the translator got that from Marcel's title, Sodome et Gomorrhe, I'll never know.

Re: What are you reading?

At what temperature does a Kindle burn? :r

I've recently finished Swann's Way, and have begun Within A Budding Grove. Once I finish that, there will only be five more volumes of Proust to...

Re: What are you reading?

I'm about halfway along Swann's Way, which means I've barely started reading Proust. :r

For fun and . . . uh, distraction . . . there's a copy of James P. Hogan's first 3 Giants SF novels in my...

Re: What are you reading?

Better? Highly debatable. More stubborn? Quite possibly. I have read Ulysses 3 or 4 times over the years, the first as a college course. The professor advised us on day one that there would be...

I have finally, after nearly 40 years of attempts and false starts, finished Finnegan's Wake. Yippee!! But don't ask me to tell you what it's about, save that I know it's about 630 pages long. :D...

Re: What are you reading?

Norman's a good novelist, but a much better journalist. I met the man once, talked to him and shook his hand . . . lord, what a total flaming @$$hole he was.

As for me, I've gotten through...

Re: What are you reading?

Here's the thing: I gave a copy of Ulysses to a friend, and she has started reading that . . . or trying to, according to her assessment. But I felt a bit guilty, so to share her pain and show her...

Re: What are you reading?

Castenada was a bit of a fraud, but this is an interesting read (the best I recall from decades in the past). I have heard - nota bene - I have heard, this is even a better read if the reader's also...
