Re: My Cuban Wheel review

Smoking my third one out of the box right now, the #1 in the torpedo shape. Perfect burn and draw. Subtle, woodsy, aromatic and tasty with a nice clean finish. Rest and dry boxing might help some?

Re: Coffee

Try a taste test of frozen vs non frozen beans from the same batch, and let me know what you think. It may work okay for your palate, or it may not.

Chemically what happens is the water in the...

Re: Coffee

Sadly, no. After 7 to 10 days, there is noticeable degradation and a change of flavor for the worse. Nitrogen flushing can help, as can vacuum sealing, but how much it helps is limited. There...

Re: LSU Quiddich.....?

I'm an out and proud gamer, and for me larping is the best way to get my exercise and my geek on at the same time. Whacking people with boffer swords is fun. I used to fight in the SCA (Society for...

Re: Question about pepper

You have to use a special pepper grinder and sprinkle it over your cigars. Be sure to post some pictures for us to enjoy. :r

Re: COFFEE: What are you drinking?

CounterCulture's El Gavilan as a pourover or press; Toscano as an espresso. The Gavilan is nice and clean, with light, pure flavors, and is excellent iced. The Toscano is a lovely sweet Snickers...

Re: Sticky cigars

Only if you quit keeping your special magazines next to the humidor. :D

Have you checked the humidor for any kind of seepage or condensation?

Re: Heads-up: Upcoming old/rare cigar auction from a private stash

FYI, this is opening up at 12:01 AM on the 7th - that's tonight. Y'all have the early heads-up. :)

Keep an eye on ending dates and times; they are staggered to close in a time range between 8...

I liked it - but damn, you smoke fast! :D

How'd you do the effects on that?

Re: Is it me?

I'll be your cigar secretary - send your stash over here and I'll, er, inventory it for you. Yeah, that's the word I'm looking for. :D

Re: What If We Lost Pepin?

What a horrific thought. Just considering it depresses me. The loss to the industry would be extremely far-reaching.

Maybe someone could raise him as a cigar-rolling zombie.

Weird. Loads fine for me, from pretty much anywhere I am (checked it on the road today). Try clearing cache?

Heads-up: Upcoming old/rare cigar auction from a private stash

I was waiting to drop back in here 'till I had permission to spill the beans, cuz I got a big mouth and I didn't want to step on anyone's toes. But since it just hit their web site a few minutes...

Re: Tat Petit Cazadores Reserva question

Nary a single draw problem with this stick for me, and I've been through some. Tasty little powerhouse of a cigar snack. Check your humidity?

Re: Spiders tried to eat my face.

Bah, you can't properly recreate the flavor profile of a Gurkha with a twig.

Unless you age it in moldy dirt.

Seriously, is it just me, or does anyone else taste actual earth in those...

Re: Spiders tried to eat my face.

I like spiders, camel spiders especially, but NOT IN MY FREAKIN' CIGAR THANK YOU. That would not be nice to smoke. Not to mention remarkably unpleasant for the spider.

I really miss having...

Anyone been to Amra's in Raleigh? Also, cigar bars in general

I keep hearing good things about this new cigar bar, especially since my favorite "home base" B&M (Empire Cigars) partnered with them. They're hosting a scotch and cigar tasting flight on Thursday...

Re: Im a dad round 2!

Big congrats!

I'm a mommy. Sort of. Baby king cobras born from my lovely adult pair. I don't think anyone will want to cuddle and kiss them, though. :D

Re: Has anyone ever seen this spider?

If you mean genus Tegenaria, yes, they actually have a somewhat medically interesting venom and can produce substantial local symptoms of envenomation.

Re: Has anyone ever seen this spider?

Spiders are a minor sideline for me. My arachnid specialist colleagues pretty much have that market covered, so I rarely dabble in their field. I just get to hear a lot about what they're doing at...

Re: Has anyone ever seen this spider?

Theraphosidae aka "Goliath Bird Eaters" are not in the same genus as the tarantulas of the Americas, but they are definitely spiders. And holy chit, you should see the price tags on full grown adult...
