Re: What are you reading?
Mulamadhyamakakarika by Nagarjuna, translated by Jay Garfield as The Fundamental Wisdom of the Middle Way. Mind-bending stuff, and absolutely brilliant. If you've read Hume, Kant, or Wittgenstein...

Re: Allow me to be a grammer nazi for a while
Spelling and grammar in a resume are crucial. In a forum like this, not so much. But I still hate it when people talk about their "pallets" in reference to cigar flavor. If you have a pallet in your...

Re: What are you reading?
You got further than I did. It reminds me of the half a dozen times I've tried to read Pynchon... except that Pynchon can really write. I just can't read him.

Re: Ethiopian Traditional Coffee Ceremony
Very cool! Now you need to hit the Kenyan place, and the Brazilian, and the Sumatran... or you could just go back to the Ethiopians and say "Again!" And soon you'd have your own show on the National...

Re: Cigar Blogs
Cigar Envy was a great blog but it's been a couple years since it showed life. I run Keepers of the Flame (http://cigarfan.wordpress.com), btw. Things have been a little slow on the site lately, but...

Re: Bye Bye Ethiopian Micro Lots
That's terrible news. I've been drinking Aricha 27 all week -- this is iconoclastic coffee. Fantastic stuff. I can't believe they'd want to adulterate this totally unique bean by blending it...

Re: What are you reading?
Sounds like a great place! I'm a law librarian in a detention facility, so the books I see everyday are not quite as appealing. Not to mention my customers... but it's by far the most interesting job...

Re: Tamboril is Back...Oh God
Back in the day this was a truly turdly cigar. Hands down the worst cigar I've ever smoked... maybe Cremosa is worse, but I haven't had the pleasure. I can't imagine anything worse than a mid-90's...

Re: What are you listening to?
Roll On - J.J. Cale ... pretty low key stuff. Clapton on the first track. Easy listening old guy rock. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Kinsmen - Rudresh Manhanthappa. (Jazz heads must...

Re: Colbert Report Nub Rant
This took me by surprise when I saw it on the show last night. It was basically a visual joke, but you gotta admit, the Nub is a funny looking cigar.

A bit of a salvage operation: Some Bali Kintamani that is a little bit underdone blended with some Sumatra Blue Batak that is a little bit overdone. Still not fantastic, but the blend is better than...

Re: What Makes You IRISH Today ?
My mother's great-grandparents came over from County Cork. Of the many family legends, most of which I am sure are total bull, my favorite is the one about the Conroy family entering Ellis Island --...

Re: What cigar did you smoke today?
Tabacos Baez Monarcas. Seemed about half-way between a Cabaiguan and a 601 Connect. More peppery than a Cab, but not as powerful as the 601.
