Re: What's the last movie you watched?
JVDC ... damn! I didn't know the Muscles from Brussels could act! Not a masterpiece of a movie exactly, but there's one scene that makes it worth the price of admission.

Re: What are you reading?
Joyce said something about how the reader should spend at least as much time reading this book as he did in writing it. That would be 17 years, so it looks like you've satisfied his requirement. :D

Re: What are you reading?
The Lazarus Project by Aleksandar Hemon. It's not a beach book exactly, but I'm loving it for lines like, "Belief and delusion are incestuous siblings."

Re: Siglo IV Limited Reserve Robusto
Despite the detestable marketing I thought this was a decent, but boring smoke. Not bad, meaning it didn't have me puking over the side (that would be worse than bad I think) but not particularly...

Re: Ties suck
I had a biology teacher who used to say that everything that has a form has a function. He always made a point of tugging on his tie and saying, "Except this."
But a mean old bolo tie with a...

And the old Mark Twain chestnut:
We have a criminal jury system which is superior to any in the world; and its efficiency is only marred by the difficulty of finding twelve men every day who...

Re: Favorite NC Wrapper
I chose corojo, but I love Ecuadorian wrappers as well -- ECCT, ECSU, and Oliva is growing some Habano now in Ecuador that is really nice... I don't know what it is about Ecuador, but these wrappers...

Re: What are you listening to?
That must have been a helluva good time. Fred was gone before I arrived, so thank God for recordings.
Now listening to some crazy Indian jazz by a sax player named Rudresh Mahanthappa. "Kinsmen"...

I heard that they moved production of these to Santiago, DR., but they still have an office in Miami. I haven't noticed any change in quality, so I suppose it doesn't really matter. LTC is a...

Re: What cigar did you smoke today?
Casa Magna Corona. Lots of pepper, leather and other subtle things. The wrapper is seriously oily. Overall a swell smoke, but unless the robusto is miles ahead of the corona, I don't see how it gets...

The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler. One of the characters smokes "Interactos." Marlowe calls them "toy cigars."
