Re: Vinturi for booze?

Vinturi, no. There are added benefits to charcoal filtration, however, but even after using the coupon at Lowes for the pallet load of free charcoal, it becomes a matter of diminishing returns. Spend...

Re: (Official?) Pocket Knife Discussion Thread

Scored a used and abused older Microtech Ultratech last night for lest than the cost of a cheeseburger. The case and mechanicals are in good shape, the blade needs some love, respect, care and time...

Re: Quail Hunting Pictures (So Cal)

I know I don't want to hang out with either of the two "someones." I also noticed a distinct lack of quail.

Re: Basic Coffee Recommendations?

RO water does not.

Having been a "water guy" (selling RO, iron treatment and softeners) and having some training and certs in it, I remember at least a little bit ;)
People who will try to tell...

Re: Basic Coffee Recommendations?

That's the spirit! Going from grocery store floor sweepings to craft roasted beans is like going from Mickey D's to Ruths Chris. We expect a full report, including which beans and tasting notes. ;)

Re: Basic Coffee Recommendations?

A quick google search popped a few local roasters in Mobile, Greg. Why limit yourself to grocery store coffee? An extra 30 or 40 cents a pot for truly GREAT locally roasted FRESH coffee is worth it....

rehydrating my stash

I store my pipe tobacco in an Otterbox, I have 10 or 12 different blends stuffed in it and they seem to have dried out a bit.
How to rehydrate?
Have I wasted some decent tobaccos, destroyed them...

Re: CAMPING GEAR Recommendations

Not to mention, AVgas ( as I recall offhand), diesel/kerosene, and I think some crazy bastard may have used alcohol in one. The universal whisperlite can take all of the above and canister fuel, as...

Re: CAMPING GEAR Recommendations

MSR. I have 2 MSR stoves, a Whisperlite (pre-shaker jet, probably 25 years old) and a Dragonfly, 10 or 12 years old, I would guess. Both bombproof. I wouldn't hesitate for a moment buying an MSR...
