Re: The Under $20 A Bottle Wine Thread:
I am really turned off by dyed maduro wrappers, mostly because I do not know what the process is for dying them. (Food coloring? What the hell is it?) I still wouldn't buy them because stained lips...

Re: Don Jose "Pepin" Garcia
The only Troya ever produced by DPG was the Clasico, which was a Nicaraguan puro, and which is no longer produced by Pepin. The Connecticut and Cameroon lines have nothing to do with Pepin, now or...

Re: Don Jose "Pepin" Garcia
The DPG-made Troya Clasico is no more. The brand was owned by a company called Lignum-2, which sold out to Altadis. The new Troya Clasico "Limited" (yeah, sure) is made by NATSA for Altadis. :td

Re: The Under $20 A Bottle Wine Thread:
I went to the wine shop with a list of wines from this thread. I found this one, and the Meridian Pinot (CA). (Also found the Steltzner Claret but it was $25, a little out of my price range.) We...

Re: A Fernandez signature natural
The maduro lanceros were okay -- sort of like the Padron standard line, but less robust. For less than 2 bucks a pop on cbid I'm not complaining.

Re: El Rey De La Habanos
Very mild for Pepin, which means medium for anyone else. Lots of cocoa and not as tannic as a lot of his cigars. Good to very good, but not stellar. Definitely worth a try if you're interested in a...

Re: Do you brush your teeth....
Coffee first. Brush last, before I hit the door. Usually I remember to open the door before I hit it. That's the beauty of coffee.

Re: What are you reading?
American Rust by Phillipp Meyer. I'm not sure if this book wants to be a thriller or "literature." So far it's a decent read though.

Re: New coffee maker...
Nah. A Roomba in my house would be a very expensive and quickly dispatched dog toy. Besides, if I could afford a Roomba I would have a Mazzer. And I don't have a Mazzer... yet.

Re: What are you listening to?
Nothing right now, but Tom Waits is ringing in my ears from the ride home. "God's Away on Business" from Blood Money. One of his "grim reapers," as his wife calls them.

Re: New coffee maker...
The Roomba can clean up after, but that's as close as I want a robot to my beans. (And the Roomba will have to compete with the dogs.)

Re: How do you brew?
Depends on the bean. Delicate light roasts I'll brew in a french press or sometimes a pour over if I just want one cup. Middling beans I'll throw in the Capresso dripper. FC+ or espresso roasts I'll...
