Re: Photography Thread

It gives you access so you can rotate a circular polarizing filter.

Thanks, here's one I got over the weekend at the Baltimore Help Portrait event. Check out help-portrait.com for more info, it's a really great cause.

Re: Photography Thread

You might want to consider calibrating your monitor, there are kits available for that.

My new lens came in today, I can't wait to start shooting with it.

Re: Photography Thread

I've played with one, it's a great sharp lens for the money, if you don't need IS. In my opinion, it's really an outdoor lens. Not fast enough to give you great shutter speeds indoors. Also, for...

Re: Photography Thread

I think the 17-40 is where you want to be. There are a few other options like a Samyang 14mm f/2.8 which has gotten very good reviews or an old 17-35mm f/2.8L if you feel you really need 2.8, but my...

Yes, but it is the specific type of distortion that matters. Can it be fixed in photoshop? Sometimes, but it depends on the quality of the distortion:...

Re: Photography Thread

I think right around $35 including shipping and the adapter. I've started getting into these manual focus lenses because they're ridiculously cheap compared to AF ones.

Picked up an old Sears 135mm f/2.8 in m42 mount and a cheap adapter. Here are a few shots:

Re: Photography Thread

I wasn't refering to lens distortion, I was referring to perspective issues which are affected by the camera's distance relative to the subject, which is a different issue. The reason a headshot...

Re: Photography Thread

Depends on the lens. Some 3rd party lenses are as good or better than their equivalents, others not so much. Tokina 11-16 is much loved by Canon crop shooters because no fast equivalent exists from...

I wouldn't do it. There are compromises when you have zoom lenses of any length and with the super zooms, there is a lot of compromising you'll have to do in terms of image quality in exchange for...

Re: EQUIPMENT Question Sunpak 555

I meant to respond to this, but never got around to it. I wouldn't plug it into my camera, but it would be perfect for Off-Camera flash. The Sunpack 555's are pretty powerful and all you would need...
