Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Woodford is always a good starting point. Great bang for the buck and a good starter bourbon. Maker's is also handy to have around, especially since its so versatile and can be used in a number of...

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Picked up a bottle of Jefferson's Reserve since the darn ABC stores locally don't have Angels Envy, despite it being on the ABC catalog.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Willett's is some good stuff. Nice and spicy. Very different for a bourbon. Its the only bourbon a number of scotch drinkers I know will drink.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Both great borbouns, but the Angels Envy takes the cake to me. The son of the guy who did Woodford is responsible for Angels Envy, and supposedly the dad helps out as well now.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Give the Angels Envy a try. It a bit pricey, but worth every last penny. Easily my current favorite. Which is bad cuz I'm drinking that over the Single Oak I have that needs to get drunk up! :r

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Dammit, I had just resolved not to bring any bourbon with me to the shop tonight. Oh well, guess I'll have to stop back at my place to grab a bottle after class. Now the question of Angels Envy,...

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Almost bought a bottle of the Eagle Rare 17 while back home, but my wallet told me to cool it(it has other plans for that money). Ended up grabbing some Angels Envy. :dr Just had me a glass and have...

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Picked up a bottle of Larceny yesterday before work. Haven't tried it yet as I was too tired after work to stick around and pour me a glass.

I'm hoping to grab a bottle of Four Roses Single Barrel...

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Woodford and Four Roses Small Batch are my go tos as the stereotypical poor college student(working in a cigar shop barely covers my cigar hobby :r), both great bang for the buck(~$35 and ~$30...

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Saw some of the LE when I went home over Thanksgiving, guess I'll have to grab a bottle when I go up for Christmas in a few weeks. They had some Pappy 23 as well, but I a) don't have the money to...

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Thats cheap man, I have to shell out $30 down here in NC, $25 if I catch it on special. Either way its a great bottle, though the Single Barrel is worth the extra dough if you can get it.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Four Roses Small Batch is one of the best bang-for-the-buck bourbons out there. Only Woodford competes with it in my book.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

I've had it, but I'm not much of a Scotch man. At least not yet. The bottle of Hakushu 12 I picked up in August back home is on the upper end of my peat tolerance.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

If you're not a big Scotch drinker yet, try one of the Japanese Whiskys, similar taste, but not quite as peaty and much lighter. Can't wait to get back to my hometown next week to pick up another...

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

What to drink tonight... Always a tough decision! :r

I think I might have to break out the Single Oak.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

I definitely got the smokiness, but none of the sweetness I associate with Woodford was there. I'll have to try it with an ice cube to see if that opens it up.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

I think I'm gonna pick up a bottle of Woodford Double Oaked to celebrate the start of football season. Though that may change when I actually get to the liquor store.
