Desktop maybe, Laptop, not likely. I however run a lot of images through my system and expect really fast performance... Start with dell for something around $600

Wow, just dropped in to see what was going on in here and it is like a huge brain dump going on... all I would suggest when buying a camera is go to you nearest quality camera story try them all...

Got get gimp for any edition. It is free and nearly as good as photo shop. For viewing there are a lot of programs out there so I would suggest you start with infraviewer.

Volus- Your first photo is the weakest. There is no for ground and the sky is too small in the image. Look up the "rule of thirds". That will help you a lot.
