Better in terms of only small incrimental improvements. Both spyderco and kershaw make top quality knives that will work flawlessly for generations if properly taken care of.

Take a look at protech, their tr3 and 4 are both amazing knives very well made and 100% us produced, which is why they use CM154 instead of the newer stuff, I however happen to love 154 as I find it...

You can work something out with blade HQ. Send it to them or microtech and the it come back through blade HQ. They may charge you a little for handling but should help you get your knife fixed......
