Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

That is very true, you make an excellent point. Perhaps if I see the Ryes again they will get Purchased.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Damn Cliff, Nice score :tu

I saw those ryes a few months back, was tempting but I didn't have any reviews or feedback on them at the time.

Let me know what you think on both of those, the...

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Pretty good selection at McScrooges, prices are decent to a bit high. Better selection and prices in Nashville if you get that chance to drive a few hours away.

Nice score though, the Barrel...

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

:r

I was looking at the 18 year Saturday night, but Zaya caught my eyes instead. Kind of on a rum kick lately.

I'm sure I'll get back into bourbon. Set aside a few hundred $$$ for the 2012...

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

I've been thinking about trying the 18 year....I guess that'll be the next bottle purchase.

I think you mean Elijah Craig 18 year though.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

It's not bad. For the price Woodford is better. For a bit more I like Noahs Mill.

I've drank 2 bottles of it, don't find myself wanting a third anytime soon though.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Woodford Reserve, $30-$34 a bottle and every bourbon IMHO should be compared to Woodford.

Start there, for it's price point it doesn't get much better.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Mine too, but Four Roses 120 Anniversary is a VERY close second. The notes of vanilla and cinnamon in that :dr

Those were the only 2 bottles I've ever had that I rationed out to last a whole 2,...

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

I've seen a few Eagle Rare 17's not sure if I just got luckily or no one buys them around here. Never picked one up. I opted for the William Larue Weller and Four Roses 120 Anniversary instead.

Agreed, it was worth trying but that's about it.

What BT bourbons are you specifically looking for?

Nice, 120 proof is right up my alley I'm going to have to give that one a try.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Alright I have to admit I was going to pick up a bottle of WSR but this bottle of High West Rendezvous Rye caught my eye. So I scored that instead.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Don't hesitate, the small batch is very good especially for the price. ~$28 or so last I remember. I've definitely killed a few bottles, and I'll say they didn't last more than 2 ...MAYBE 3 days....

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

I agree I like the small batch four roses better than the single barrel. Although given the choice I'd gladly close my eyes and drink either.

I'll pick up a bottle of WSR and see what I think....

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

I was wondering about the Weller Special Reserve, it seemed too cheap. $17 at my local means probably 14-15 in the city. I didn't buy it. I might have to try it though. I love the William Larue...

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

:r Jack is sour mash whiskey and has a very unique smell. I don't think bourbon smells like it honestly. You should be fine. Regular Jack is not so good, but I do recommend Gentleman Jack. Tastes...

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Nice I've yet to bite on this years masters collection. How is it compared to say the 08 Masters? Which I found to be excellent. That bottle lasted me one glorious night.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

NICE

I haven't had any of the Pappys. I REALLY REALLY want to try the 15 year. I hear it's the best of the Pappys.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!

Oh yeah the woodford masters collections are great! I agree the price tag is a bit high. I wish they were like $30 cheaper.
