Re: First Firearm Thread.
Accuracy won't be compromised with that barrel.
You'll lose more accuracy having a chrome bbl(negligible) than you will distorting barrel harmonics by torquing the forward grip.
If anything, a...

That 1911 is one of the most beautiful firearms I have seen in a very long time. I am green with envy.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
If it was an AR-15 hammer, I'd do it in a heartbeat, but with complete inexperience in this sort(revolvers) of thing and the necessity for it to work 100% of the time if needed. It's worth the 30$...

Re: First Firearm Thread.
I have a guy local who could do it.
Though if he can't do it, I'm wondering if just buying an aftermarket bobbed hammer would be more ideal ($$$).
EDIT:: just found a recommended website.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Different application. Backpacking carry gun. .357 minimum.
My carry gun is a G19.
We're talking lightweight because ounces matter on the trail. Chest holster, slightly exposed and revolver...

Re: First Firearm Thread.
I won't argue the revolver is the premier choice for this application (which is why I'm hunting for one), but all I was getting at is if weight was a wash between an auto and a revolver, I'll go with...

Re: First Firearm Thread.
My only logic is if we're talking 26 to 30 ounces, I'd just rather go with a G29 which preserves my muscle memory comparable to a G19. Which a Glock isn't going have an issue with dirt, dust, grime...

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Few criteria. No taurus. No ruger. Must be less than 20 ounces. 357 minimum. Not ultra snubnose. Black or blue preferred. It will be mostly concealed.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Let's talk handguns suitable for backpacking. I was thinking a s&w j frame .357 but the ultra snub nose concerns me. I'd like at least 2.5".
reccomendations?

Re: First Firearm Thread.
(or cheap ammo*) :D
If you're gonna go the unsupported route, then go Glock 29. Skip all the pansy stuff and go for gold. 10 rounds of 10mm = pure awesome.

Only if you like to blow up your hands :D
Unsupported chamber + .40 = F that.
Glock 19 is where it's at... :D

Re: First Firearm Thread.
A few years ago for Dad's weekend at college, I took my dad shooting. The funniest part about it is typically it's the father who takes the son shooting. My dad never grew up with guns and only owned...

Get a chunk of drywall from Home Depot or something. That's what I did to test penetration. 2 layers with an air gap from some 2x4's provide a nice simulation. Just set up a piece of paper on...

Not sure to be honest... I bought my HD years ago.
