Tag makes some very good watches, although they are not as "elite" as the marketing machine makes them out to be. Their quartz pieces are really just about the Tag name, but their mechanical watches...

A nickel reaction is what I was thinking too. Could also be cobalt as that's another binding agent that some people have sensitivities to. Why not switch to a different strap, leather or nylon, and...

Got a couple new flieger straps for my Steinhart, both made from waxed buffalo leather. Hard to take decent photos without reflections in the crystal with an iPhone :(

ETA stopped supplying unfinished movements to non-Swatch Group companies, they still sell completed movements. "3rd party" companies like Steinhart still buy and use them, it just means more work if...

Laco makes some beautiful pilots too, closer to historically accurate than the Steinharts as well. I looked at Laco's but just couldn't justify spending 1600€ on a watch right now. You do get what...

Ya I'm not sure where exactly in Jura their factory is. They're also a small company so I would expect they contract to factory(s) which makes the pieces per design spec then ship them back to the...

Like IWC's Big Pilot Chrono, the Steinhart Nav B-Chrono is based on the B-UHREN watches (http://www.calibremagazine.com/node/305) that 5 companies, including IWC, produced for Luffwaffe bomber pilots...

Ya, I'm pretty chuffed with it. With the weak euro it's definitely good value. Watch plus the extra band shipped for less than the cost of 2 boxes of 1966's :D

Just ordered one of these this morning; Steinhart Nav B-Chrono 47mm on brown leather strap with polished Pre-V as were as a second black leather strap with polished Pre-V. Now the waiting begins.......
