Re: Anybody Like Vermouth?
I'm open to anything, so I'll have to order a martini with Lillet in place of vermouth just to see. Maybe I'll be converted like yourself. When you say "The white," I'll assume you mean the original....

Re: Anybody Like Vermouth?
I believe Lillet is a quinquina, and barely one at that. Contains less herbs and quinine than Dubonnet, and Dubonnet is one of the subtlest quinquinas.

Anybody Like Vermouth?
I figure I'm an odd man in modern society for this, but I like vermouth the way it was intended to be consumed - either chilled straight or on ice. So far Cinzano (rosso) and Noilly Prat (original...

Re: 601 Blue reblend?
I like the new bands, actually (gladly, "Hardcore" will not be used). I liked the bands as they are now, too. Whatever the case, I don't care. All I care about is the loss of the black label. My...

Re: Chain store rant
I'm in Denver and I don't know of any more than one cigarette chain, and they've always sold cigars (the big one up north has cigar events and an impressive walk-in). Never had issues with their...

Re: Why don't NC cigar makers put dates on boxes?
Most cigars do say where the tobaccos come from. Only generic[ish] brands/cigars, I've found, are hard to trace the contents of. Advertising often makes a pretty specific description of the contents,...

Re: Punch cutter + big ring = tunneling?
By principle, I always use a punch, and by principle, I never buy anything larger than 50rg. When I do end up with something as huge as a 52 by lack of choice, I punch it more than once (5 times, to...

Re: Mexico
No, Romeo y Julieta have no non-Cuban line. Habanos, S.A. produces Cuban Romeo y Julieta cigars, and only Cuban cigars. The Romeo y Julieta you saw is a Dominican brand completely separate from the...

Interesting, thanks for the tip. However, after a cigar, I can't stop smelling my hands! I love the smell.

Re: What beers are you enjoying?
The neighbors downstairs moved out and abandoned a 6-pack of some Mexican beer in the fridge, so I yoinked it. Bohemía it's called. Knocking down number 4 right now; very, very good dark beer.

Re: Punch Rothchild: Maduro vs. Oscuro?
Common misconception ;)
Oscuro is made from the upper-most leaves of the plant. Maduro is fermented longer. Oscuro is often called "maduro maduro" or "double maduro," but they aren't really...

Re: Cuban tobacco
This goofy rumor's been happening for years now. There's no way in Hell Cuba would pay precious money or trade other valuable resources for tobacco they consider inferior. And besides that, there's...

Re: Beer with Syrup - Do you like?
Doesn't Warsteiner make fruit-flavored beers? It's Germany's Keystone, so I thought that was just another take on teenage European party swill - I had no idea this was a popular concept across the...

I'm going to go with some others here and echo Tom about the nose smoking. The "smoothness" of the Cubans you hear described I think applies to this; I've encountered nary a non-Cuban that I can blow...

Most of it is. Connecticut Broadleaf is a tobacco strain, just as Sumatra and Habano are, even though for the most part neither of those are grown in Sumatra or Havana. But Connecticut is the...

Re: Are you tasting what you think you are?
I disagree. I find I taste lots of spice in cigars, and most of the time it is neither pepper nor tannin. I often taste white pepper, red pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, etc. Black pepper is the "pepper"...

Re: Are you tasting what you think you are?
That needs to be done far before rolling. It needs to be done in harvesting. Or possibly in fermenting and/or curing at the latest.
Anyway, I don't know if I agree with The Riddick for my taste....

Re: Domenico a Greek Cigar
I'd be interesting to hear what they look and smoke like. Greece produces quite a quantity of cigarettes, but never heard of cigars from there.
