Mold possibly?

Good afternoon!

I'm in the process of restabilizing and organizing all of my boxes (large and small). I was in the wineador and noticed 5 sticks with a khaki colored mold on them. None of the other naked sticks have it anywhere. So I emptied the drawer and cleaned it with distilled water (paper towels on left).

Mold? Beetlejuice?

As stated, careful inspection of all surfaces and crannies show no evidence it has spread. It appears that when the wineador actually worked, condensation dripped on the back of this drawer (fluid stain on a small portion)

As an aside, my collection has largely been neglected for a few years (hence my absence), and I'm 1 month in with rehydration...slow and steady. So far all boxes are at ~67% and steady.

I Would Be Afraid To Smoke Those. Could Definitely Be Mold.

My thoughts too.

Oh, I wasn't even thinking that they were smokeable. I chucked them in a plastic bag and then the trashcan.

I had yet to experience mold in this form, so I was curious about it. Thank you for the replies. :)

Almost looks more like rot than mold?

For the record, googling Cigar Rot brings unexpected results. :noon

I would say a combination of water damage and mold!

This.

I’ve had this happen to cigars where the humidifying element leaked and this went unnoticed for a few years. Looked just like the photos.

Yes, agree with your assumption, especially if you see other evidence of condensation.

Thankfully you only lost a couple of sticks.

We missed out on an opportunity to send those sticks to good old Bacon Bill. :r
