Shazzam!

I knew he was a sing, but it's probably been 35 years since I've heard that and couldn't really remember him singing anything, then I saw this today, Gomer should could sing. I have a feeling a few of our younger members are asking "who". :lr

and yes Thomas I know that Peter O'Toole did it in Man of La Mancha and all .. but this was more the surprise over Jim Nabors talent. :lr

I don't need to click the link to know Nabors could sing. The switch between that goofy Gomer accent and his melodious artistry was striking.

Yes the link was from the show when he was actually Gomer singing with the Marine Corp Symphony, so you got some goofy Gomer before and after the song. heh

According to Wikipedia, the first time Gomer burst into song on the small screen was The Andy Griffith Show of Feb. 24 1964. OK, if they say so, but whenever it was I saw it, and recall how shocked I was with his transition. The only comparable one I remember on TV was this:

The famous Susan Boyle performance on Britain's Got Talent would qualify, but I only saw that after the fact, and not "live".

See? All of Mayberry was shocked too!

Well, maybe not Otis, who was probably passed out drunk.

I can't recall how I always knew he could sing, but I did. I love the Andy Griffith Show and watch it on Netflix regularly. I also have been watching Gomer Pyle on Playon as well. Wasn't he somewhat known for singing?
