He's been in hospice for some time now. I'm glad to hear he went Home.
The 3 Kings, BB, Eddie, and Albert are the most influential Blues players from their era, and molded all that we grew up on. Their spirit will go on forever in the music. Such Joy they've given the world. |
Re: B.B. King Dead At 89
And what about Freddie King, Scott? I met the man once, after a show at Davidson College over 40 years ago, and even partied with his band. Freddie was a bit of a jerk, but one hell of a Texas boogie blues guitarist.

pretty hard in Memphis, but we also raise em up, too. We do songwriter nights in a little juke joint I co-own and all our B.B. prints are cornered with a black strip for now. Percy just went up on the wall, too. I was going to print Percy a week before he died, and said NAH, went with Muddy Waters and Jimmy Reed. But boy did I find out later how poor a choice that was. On the night pictured below, we had a band made up of high school kids and we let em throw an all ages show inside. This is a band from Chattanooga that opened up for em. |
