Ive joined the dark side!
 

I just ordered a pipe. ive smoked a couple of bowls but none that ive packed myself. But I just ordered a Savelli pipe and Got my Ataldias Sampler today, some Irish cream, Fox and Hound and something in a blue package.

Any tips for the newbie wuld be great. but also, ive done some searching but what is a good mild blend?

Just started on a pipe myself, so can't give any good advice. Mr Moo has a thread where you can ask questions of an FOG, though.

Not quite what is meant as "dark side" unless that's changed in the last few years...it usually refers to buying and/or smoking cuban cigars which as you know, I'm sure, is illegal in the US! :ss

My advice as a noob myself (been smoking pipe about 2.5 months):
- Don't let the Altadis aromatic tobaccos get you down. There's a chance you may get a nasty tongue bite from those tobaccos that you may not get with others.
- Get a cob and smoke it primarily until you get familiar with filling the pipe and smoking at a slow pace that doesn't get the tobacco too hot/gurgling/etc.
- Get a soft flame pipe lighter. I found it easier to develop a slow smoking pace when it's fast & easy to relight.
