Cigar consumption in America (Graph)

I found this a little interesting:

Note: President Kennedy signed the Cuban trade embargo in 1962 but not before sending a lackey to purchase 1,200 fine Cuban cigars on his behalf! (According to moreintelligentlife.com)

Isn't that beyond ridiculous? What an arsehole!

He signs something against cuba but not before buying shittons of smokes. He redefines the word douchebag.

Who the hell didn't call him on that and vote it down.

Typical of a politician! To Hell with everyone else, as long as I get mine!

I hope this didn't violate any rules as I made a point not to mention of what party JFK belonged to.

Let's be careful here. Rules prohibit "politics" and "political discussion". Mentioning (or not mentioning) a party has no bearing on our rules.

Three Points:

1. This happened over 40 years ago.
2. Technically, he was well within his rights to buy those cigars, as ANY citizen of the U.S. could have done the same thing at the same time.
3. He is dead.

Lackey? He sent the Press Secretary, and he told him to get 1000...Salinger went above and beyond!

I was really surprised that so many more americans smoked cigars in the 20s & 30s.
I guess maybe there was less stimulation back then with TV and stuff like that maybe.
I feel cigars are gonna make a big comeback!

I wonder if the decline after the embargo is due to poor quality cigars from other countries at the time. Wasnt Cuban cigars the standard??? Maybe its taken the the past 50 years to get NCs up to par. Just a guess on my behalf!!!!
