Padron Serie 1926 80 Years Salomon - Purchased 10/07/10

Padron Serie 1926 80 Years Salomon - Purchased 10/07/10, Price 8/11/11, $27.75/Cigar

Rule of Threes: 3 weeks allows the cigars to stabilize. 3 months you will start to notice some age. 1-3 years will allow the cigars to fully age.3 weeks allows the cigars to stabilize. 3 months you will start to notice some age. 1-3 years will allow the cigars to fully age.

This is a chronicle of smoking the last four of sixteen of these cigars. The preceding cigars had all been superlative, well-worth the price. I had never smoked a cigar so rich in both strength and flavor. My plan had been to smoke one a month so as to finish them by 11/11.

Having very little experience with aging, I did not want to experiment with cigars of such high calibre. But I was too slow for this cigar, the particulars of which are below. Needless to say, I will smoke Padron Anniversary Cigars within six months of purchase to stay ahead of the one-year guideline for when aging will start about which I had read on this forum in posts about the rule of threes. But my memory was faulty and I just quoted how I misapplied even this guideline. But it was what I had thought to expect regarding aging.

The last unchanged cigar I smoked was in 07/11.

Clgar One - Smoked 08/13/11; strength full, flavor 20% of what it had been; wrapper had a grey cast over the original chocolate brown; foot was speckled with yellow.

Cigar Two - Smoked 08/14/11; strength full, flavor 50% first half, 80% continuing to ⅔ and 90% in the final third.

Cigar Three - Smoked 08/15/11; strength full, flavor 85%.

Cigar Four - Smoked 08/16/11; strength full; flavor 80%; wrapper speckled yellow here and there.

Do you still believe in Santa Claus too? And Cinderella? I'm not asking that to be an ass, but they are just as real as the rules of threes.

Wasn't this the second time he's posted the rule of 3's?

This thread must be a joke

Smoked an OR of these last Friday and just did not like it. Put it down after smoking half of it. Just plain harsh. I know a lot of people like Padrons, but I'm really not one of them. Oh well, to each their own I say. :ss

I can see that, Kev. The 80th can rock your socks off. I have to smoke lots and lots of very strong stuff before I can take one on. The 40th isn't nearly so explosive, you might like that. The 1964 Anni stuff is plenty strong enough for me on any given day, the 1926 stuff when I want a bit stronger.
Provided I've strictly adhered to the rule of 3's, of course. ;)
