Cigar "pairing" question

I realize that it would be impossible to offer drink suggestions for every cigar out there, but it would be sweet to have suggestions of cigar/drink pairings for each genre of cigar. Has anybody written a thread or seen an article that would suggestion drink pairings like this? For example, full-bodied maduros would be best with espresso or stouts (completely making that up!).

Thoughts?
Nick

This is more specific than you'd probably like, but it's a start.

That was a interesting thread, but it's a little specific. I have a buddy that loves to cook and is great with pairing wine/beer with his meals, and I'm always surprised how the one can compliment the other. I was hoping for the same with cigars!

I guess that I need to start experimenting! lol.... :tu

Can't go wrong with a nice Maduro and a nice Stout in my opinion.

Why water? I'm just curious... Do you drink it just to cleanse your mouth between draws?

Water doesn't usually leave any flavors behind in the mouth. That way you can taste all the flavors of the cigar and not be potentially confused by thinking the flavors of your beverage are also found in your cigar.

My pairing is less than scientific. Lately it's been "whatever I am drinking at the time." lol

For example, I made a badass porterhouse tonight, and paired that with a bogle old vine zinfandel. Still drinking the zin, and enjoying the hell out of a 98 party Charlotte right now.

Coffee, iced tea or a mojito.

Water, Kokannee, Vontage Port or Cuban rum. If it's wicked hot out that day I'll make a pitcher of iced cappucino.
Basically whatever floats your boat.

I like coffee, tea, or hot chocolate with a nice, sweet maduro. If it's spicy, soda works, something like diet pepsi.

I usually just drink ice water. I enjoy coffee with chocolatey, mocha cigars.

Water. I know wine people say that in drinking it in conjunction with a meal, each enhances the other; but my palate does not need confusion. The same for cigars and soda or alcohol.
